THE GIFT OF PHOTOGRAPHY
I began shooting as a hobby 12 years ago. I had always been curious about the art form, and when I dove in, I studied the photos of great black and white photographers like Henri Cartier-Bresson, Sebastiao Salgado, and Richard Avedon. I researched what cameras, film and lenses they used, and I invested and experimented with those lenses, camera bodies, and film stock. I shot family members, friends, and street photography whenever I traveled, then developed talent and gathered up experience to start working with clients.
I have shot film for years, switching to digital to help facilitate the demands of clients and the practicality of the digital world--but I still maintain the respect and challenge of capturing a unique shot on film. Find the great light, and work moment to moment.
